Colorless Asphalt SAL60 ( Synthetic Decolorized Asphalt )

Synthetic Decolorized Asphalt, colorless asphalt, or muticolour colored asphalt colorless binder, is a new type of material among many road construction materials. There are currently two widely used types:

1) One method is to add color powder to a decolorized colorless asphalt and then get colored asphalt mixture material. Decolorized colorless asphalt can be obtained through bitumen, asphalt decolorization, or it can also be synthetic prepared from light colored polymers such as petroleum resins.

2) Another is obtained through direct technical modification of the original bitumen, asphalt. This asphalt also said environmentally friendly asphalt, the colorless asphalt has the characteristics of strong aging resistance of asphalt, and it pavement red color is wine red, brownish red in deep shade.

Decolorized Asphalt Colorless Product's Features:

1). Do NOT need for dedicated bright decolorized colorless asphalt storage tanks, corresponding asphalt dedicated pipelines, and heating and insulation equipment;

2). Do NOT need for specialized de barrel asphalt equipment;

3). Lightweight small packaging facilitates direct feeding into mixing tanks, simplifies production processes, and purifies the production environment;

4). Lightweight 5 kilograms or 10 kilograms per piece of material, easy to feed directly, and easy to operate;

5). Colored asphalt mixture has the characteristics of high modulus, high elasticity, and low temperature resistance, which can meet the relevant technical requirements of asphalt concrete. It can be used for heavy-duty traffic and channelized traffic sections, medium and light traffic sections, non motorized vehicle lanes, and extremely cold road sections of colored asphalt pavement. Production and Paving Construction Instructions for Colored Asphalt Mixture:

1. Stone & Aggregate Material Requirements

1.1 Coarse aggregate: Conventional stone materials can be used.

1.2 Fine aggregate: Conventional stone materials can be used.

1.3 Depending on the type of mixture, mineral powder may not be added or an appropriate amount of mineral powder may be added.

2. Design of Mix Proportion Formulation for Colored Asphalt Mixtures

2.1) OGFC graded ( Open-grade Friction Courses ) permeable colored pavement base on open-graded bituminous paving mixtures ( open graded asphalt mixtures )

Grading: Refer to the grading standards and corresponding mix design methods in JTG F40-2004 "Technical Specification for Construction of Highway Asphalt Pavements" for mixture formulation design.

*Note: The JTG F40-2004 standard was approved for issuance by the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China.

The dosage of bagged synthetic decolorized colorless asphalt : The optimal dosage is determined using the mixture design method proposed by OGFC in JTG F40-2004 "Technical Specification for Asphalt Pavement Construction", or the recommended dosage can be simply adopted. The dosage of bagged colorless asphalt is 4.5% -5.5% of the mineral aggregate dosage. The porosity range should be between 18% and 25% range.

2.2) Semi-open graded AM colored pavement base on half(semi)-open-graded bituminous paving mixtures ( half(semi)-open-graded asphalt mixtures )

Grading: Refer to the grading standards and corresponding mix design methods in JTG F40-2004 "Technical Specification for Construction of Highway Asphalt Pavements" for mixture formulation design.

The dosage of bagged synthetic decolorized colorless asphalt: The optimal dosage is determined using the mixture design method proposed in JTG F40-2004 "Technical Specification for Construction of Highway Asphalt Pavements", or the recommended dosage can be simply adopted. The dosage of bagged colorless asphalt is 4.5% ~ 5.5% range of the mineral aggregate dosage.

2.3) Classified AC colored asphalt pavement base on dense-graded bituminous mixtures ( dense-graded asphalt mixtures )

Grading: Refer to the grading standards and corresponding mix design methods in JTG F40-2004 "Technical Specification for Construction of Highway Asphalt Pavements" for mixture formulation design.

The dosage of bagged synthetic decolorized colorless asphalt : The optimal dosage is determined using the mixture mixture formulation design method proposed in JTG F40-2004 "Technical Specification for Construction of Highway Asphalt Pavements", or the recommended dosage can be simply adopted. The dosage of bagged colored asphalt is 4.5% ~ 5.5% range of the mineral aggregate dosage.

2.4) SMA colored asphalt pavement ( SMA = Stone Matrix Asphalt or Stone Mastic Asphalt )

Grading : Refer to the grading standards and corresponding mix design methods in JTG F40-2004 "Technical Specification for Asphalt Pavement Construction" for mixture formulation design.

The dosage of bagged synthetic decolorized colorless asphalt : The optimal dosage is determined using the mixture design method proposed in JTG F40-2004 "Technical Specification for Construction of Highway Asphalt Pavements", with a mineral powder dosage of less than 10%. It is also possible to simply adopt the recommended dosage, with a bagged asphalt dosage of 4.5% ~ 6.5% range of the mineral aggregate dosage, a mineral powder dosage of 7% rate, and no fiber or 0.1% rate bagged wood fiber.

3. Mixing and Construction process of asphalt mixture:

The construction process of bagged bright synthetic decolorized colorless asphalt and modified asphalt mixture is similar, but the following points should be emphasized :

3.1 Mixing and Transportation of Colored Asphalt Mixture

1).Before mixing, the mixing tank of the mixing plant should be dry mixed with hot aggregate several times to clean it thoroughly.

2).The performance of raw materials should be stable, so that the production mix ratio can be as close to the design mix ratio as possible;

3).The temperature of the aggregate should be controlled between 170 ℃ and 190 ℃ range.

4).The bagged bright synthetic decolorized colorless asphalt is packaged in EVA bags, with a standard bag size of 5KG (or 10KG per standard bag according to customer customization). Before use, calculate the amount of bagged colorless asphalt that needs to be added to each mixing tank based on the specific situation of the mixing station. When the aggregate enters the mixing tank, the bagged colorless asphalt will be manually added directly to the mixing tank; During mass production, bagged colored asphalt can also be unpacked and added to tanks for direct weighing and transportation; Alternatively, a belt conveyor can be used for feeding. It is particularly important to mix the last batch of materials in the mixing tank for no less than 60 seconds. The specific mixing time is based on the absence of white material in the mixture, which can be determined through the first pot mixing test during actual production, but it must not be less than 60 seconds.

5). Vehicles and coverings used for transporting mixtures should also be cleaned in advance.

Summary of Mixing and Construction Requirements for Colored Asphalt Mixture:

3.2 Colored Asphalt Mixture paving.

1). The paving process of bagged bright decolorized colorless asphalt mixture and modified asphalt mixture is basically the same;

2). The paver machine should be cleaned thoroughly, especially the ironing board should be cleaned with solvent or the colored mixture should be spread on the lower layer of the road surface until there are no stripes on the surface;

3). Before paving construction, comprehensive consideration should be given to the production, transportation, paving, and rolling capacity of the mixture to ensure continuous paving and achieve uninterrupted full width paving in one go, in order to maintain consistent color, uniform and beautiful granules.

4). It is strictly prohibited to sprinkle emulsified asphalt as a bonding layer before paving construction, in order to avoid paving pollution and affect paving effect, and to save paving costs and shorten paving period.

3.3 Compaction and shaping of colored asphalt mixture

1). The water in the water tank of the roller should be replaced in advance, and any rust marks should be washed clean. The roller should stop on the wooden pad so that it does not come into contact with the lower layer of black asphalt. When rolling, it should be driven directly from the wooden pad to the colored mixture. Rolling can be carried out immediately after paving. Any equipment used during this process that comes into contact with the colored asphalt mixture, including manual shovels, should be cleaned thoroughly.

2). The rolling combination method of colored asphalt mixture is the same as that of modified asphalt mixture.

3). The compaction strength should be ensured as much as possible without embossing the stone material, but overpressure is strictly prohibited. If the stone material is crushed, it will seriously affect the color effect.

4). Mechanical paving must stop manual work or manual paving and material replenishment after rolling begins. Otherwise, due to surface water, manual paving and material replenishment will be difficult to bond with the material below. This point needs to be emphasized through repeated training for construction personnel in advance. Manual paving should be leveled and rolled as soon as possible to ensure construction temperature.

5).To prevent contamination of the colored surface layer, any debris and sand adhering to the steel wheels of the roller must be washed away with water before rolling. Rolling can only be carried out after ensuring that the rolling equipment is clean. Construction personnel must clean their shoe soles before construction, wear shoe covers when leaving the paving area, and remove shoe covers when entering the paving area again to ensure that the shoe soles are clean and free of pollution. Traffic can only be opened after the compaction is completed and the temperature has cooled down to room temperature. Try to avoid road pollution caused by personnel trampling and non construction machinery on the road during the construction process and before opening up traffic.
